Rural High Speed Internet Service Providers

Getting rural high speed internet service can sometimes be a problem because few broadband providers are available to service rural areas. The various factors that prevent these communities from receiving high speed internet are population, distance, and topographical barriers. Although DSL and cable internet may be limited for rural areas, you may be able to find companies who can provide satellite internet service.

If satellite is also not available, there are additional steps that you can take to try and lure broadband companies to provide rural high speed internet to your community. The community can come together and lay out a proposal based on sound business decision that will benefit both the broadband providers and the community.

The FCC has announced plans to extend broadband service to 90 percent of the population through the National Broadband Plan. Currently only 65 percent receive broadband internet. The plan will include providing 100 mbps gigabit broadband that's 20 times faster than it currently is to 100 million U.S. households by 2020.

A large majority of the population will be able to receive high speed internet because broadband will reach areas where it was formerly unavailable. Rural high speed internet service will then be more easily accessible.
